Christmas Carnival
Judging from the reactions and feedback from our parent community and the buzz of excitement among the children, our Christmas Carnival organized by Nirmal Sahayog and Nirmal Chhaya, was a great success.
In the true Christmas spirit of caring and sharing, the emphasis was on NGOs, and this created a social awareness amongst old and young. We had representations from the following:
WWF- World Wildlife Foundation who distributed free beautiful posters and pamphlets on endangered animals which the children loved getting. :
JEEVASHRAM- runs shelters for animals. It created a stir with the two adorable little puppies they brought for adoption. They talked to the children and sensitized them to feel for animals.
MUSKAAN-sells hand made food and masalas to raise funds for their NGO that is involved in educating underprivileged children.
SARTHAKPRAYAS gave out information on their activities and explained them to children and grown ups. They are involved in Blood Donations, Child Education and Health. Their slogans were eye catching and memorable: "Secure a child's future at the cost of a movie ticket", "Cost of 1 pizza: A child's future","Sponsor a child's Education for Rs. 250."
The MAKE A WISH board made us all proud to be part of the NBS Community. Some of the wishes made by the parents and children were :
"If wishes were not there we would have no hope. I wish NBS happiness and appreciate how they are a platform to do their bit for the underprivileged"-Suman Pandit, parent of Ritwic from Class 1.
"The best part of this wonderful day is the association with all the NGOs"- Shalini, parent of Sanchali of class 4. "I enjoyed the beautiful posters from WWF", said Sanchali.
"There is a strong sense of Community, we spend time together and get to know each other"-Chuns parents and grandparents.
"Wishes do come true but you have to work for it" said a Pallav parent."
"Pramod Sir is the true Santa because he makes children really happy" came from yet another parent."
We had stalls for Games-Ring The Pole and Buzzing Bees, stalls for food and drink- from Dominos Pizzas to Chowmein. We had Art Activities in the basement and Music provided by NBS and Deepalaya children who sang beautiful Christmas Carols.
All proceeds from "GOODIES GALORE"- food donated by teachers and parents will go to Jeevashram. Contributions to buying decorations for the tree will go to Deepalaya.
We at NBS thank our teaching Community for all their hard work and thank all the parents who made the Carnival such a memorable day. THANK YOU.
