Onam celebration
NBS being a community school believes in celebrating all the Indian festivals. Its one of the many ways to share knowledge of India's rich cultural heritage. As a part of this philosophy a special assembly was held on September 2nd 2009 to celebrate Onam - the harvest festival of Kerala.
Children were told the story of King Mahabali and Vamana - the story related to Onam. The rituals and revelries related to Onam were also told to them.
Children learnt certain Malayalam words linked to the festival like 'pookalam', 'kaikottikali', 'pulikalli', 'mundu-veshti' etc.
The celebration ended with each child getting a bowl of payasam cooked in-house by Raju bhaiya. Happy Onam to all!
