With fun and games Trust and Faith
'Together' we felt so complete.
'Blindfolded' we secured bonds that bind,
Created animals which never exist,
Our chirpy laughter chased the cold away
Our chatter charmed the mist.
A chance to explore new teaching strategies, curriculum, a chance to self access, bring out issues in the open in a less formal setting was one of the plus points of a retreat. The purpose of a retreat was not just to get away from the hustle and bustle but to think in the open, reflect on the months gone by through questions, discussion and dialogue, bond with colleagues and to bring back the teachings in order to come back with a renewed sense of direction.
The three days at Jim Corbett deepened the fellowship of the NBS community through shared experiences and helped focus the energy of a group, whether the purpose was planning, problem solving, tem work, or to tackle a topic of interest and concern. It was time to reflect, reformulate our own pedagogical practices without feeling threatened during the process.
The regime at the at Riverside Retreat comprised of getting up early, followed by a scrumptious breakfast followed by two to three structured sessions of activities and discussions . After breaking off for lunch the discussions and fun activities would follow.
The facilities at the resort were excellent."Getting out of character and taking on another role makes it easy for people who do not have much in common to work together", said Parmod and Bhupender Sir. "Such a wonderful stress buster "Meena told Charu Ma'am. "Learning is fun when done through games" was what many teachers felt.
The rain and the fog did not deter the wild spirit of NBS. They were all geared up to meet Mr. Tiger at the Corbett in the open jeep safari. It was a perfect way to re-energize faculty and to get to know the non-teaching segment. It was a well received break - NBS staff loved the days 'away'.
