Enrichment Programmes
|
Our Enrichment Programmes translate the curricular
objectives and more generally, our overall vision,
into every grain of culture and practice at school.
Creatively and thoughtfully planned by our team,
they include an ever-growing list of initiatives
that incorporate the crucial life-skills required
to appreciate and address the challenges presented
by life.

"There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning. " Jiddu Krishnamurti |
Circle
Time
This is a time during which children gather
together in a circle and share their thoughts and ideas
on topics that are meaningful and significant to them.
Having the freedom to express their feelings in a safe
environment, in the presence of their friends and teachers,
helps improve their self-esteem and communication skills,
and encourages deep and genuine bonding.
ARE
(Ask, Review and Explore)! Time
Scheduled appropriately towards the end of
the day, ARE is a time for students to pause, reflect
upon and discuss their concerns and experiences of the
day. During this time, children either ask questions
and clarify their doubts, review and reinforce the day's
learning or explore and go beyond to grapple with topics
of greater complexity and challenge. The flexibilty
to make their own choices in this way, encourages children
to take ownership of their learning and become independent,
lifelong learners.
Saath-Saath
This is a service-based learning together programme
that inculcates in our students the joy and deep sense
of fulfilment that comes from serving the community.
It includes both the Green School Initiative that teaches
children to respect and protect their environment, and
the Social Outreach Programme that allows them to involve
themselves in the work of an NGO, learning to understand,
contribute and prepare reports on the experience. We
believe that the inspiration and enthusiasm experienced
by children in both strands, is motivation enough for
them to start thinking about good citizenship and become
real world practitioners of their learning.
Integrated
Project
Every year, our school team selects a theme
for the year and children across classes and age-groups
research and explore the same theme through the lens
of different disciplines and approaches. We believe
that examing a topic both laterally and in-depth not
only fosters a comprehensive understanding but also
encourages creativity and a questioning of traditional
boundaries, while it promotes the recognition of new
and hitherto unseen connections. Over the past few years,
some of the braod themes investigated by our students
include Water, Patterns and Stories.
Atithi
Programme
This unique in-residence programme has guests
from different disciplines quite literally spending
a few days with us and sharing their talents, knowledge
and skills with our children, teachers and parents.
Every effort is made during the guest's visit to create
a non-institutional, relaxed and comfortable environment
where children can observe the expert at work from close
quarters and be inspired by his or her brilliance, or
satisfy their curiosity during canteen chats and develop
a sense of the person behind the expert.
Nirmal
Explorer
The NE programme charts out various study visits
and trips to places of significance, historic sites,
and other venues for learning. Our children visit museums,
planetariums, art galleries, army camps, factories,
etc, both during school hours and on longer overnight
trips, as part of their exploratory learning. Seeing
is believing and actually visiting places related to
their study offers students the most authentic learning
experience of all.
Exchange
Programmes
Exchange programmes provide our children with
a greater range of learning opportunities and experiences.
At NBS we are exploring e-exchanges as a learning tool
as well as the possibility of sending groups of students
to our partner schools and hosting their students at
our school.
Hobby
Clubs
Hobby clubs are a recent initiative to inspire
children to discover and enjoy new interests and passions.
Organised as multi-age group communities they are an
effective means of encouraging creativity and self enterprise
and are simply fun! Our children have currently, formed
a Design Club, a Cooking Club, and a Heritage Club called
Dharohar.
