The NBS Framework
 |
During the pre-primary years, our focus is on helping children to develop their senses, pre-number and pre-language concepts. For these ages, along with sensorial, experiential learning, play is an important part of our framework. |
During the primary years, we continue to nurture the senses and encourage children to use them in their exploration of the world, their experience of relationships with it and with each other. We also focus on the sound development of number and language skills. Each child is encouraged to learn directly from his/her own life experience. The arts, physical education, exposure to technological tools, and concerns of health, safety and conflict resolution are all an integral part of the programme.
In the middle school years we begin to teach subjects separately as disciplines. However, all learning continues to take place through interdisciplinary projects and activities, allowing for concrete experience wherever possible. Apart from a nurturing of their artistic inclinations and physical abilities, children are trained in critical thinking skills.
In senior school, students are encouraged to examine, clarify and test ideas. They are introduced to abstract concepts in various disciplines and learn subjects with greater rigour. Students are prepared to appear for the CBSE examinations at the end of Classes 10 and 12.
