The NBS team is comprised of a group of distinguished professionals
who bring with them a wide diversity of experience, expertise
and talent and a common commitment to the cause of education.
As the leaders and guides of our community, they have the
singular objective of ensuring that all children at Nirmal
Bhartia School have access to a learning experience that enables
them to become empowered, responsible, creative members of
the community who are positive about life and change.
Ms. Pooja Jhaver - Chairperson
She has a keen interest in curriculum development and school
reform, and has pursued a Masters' in International and Comparative
Education from Columbia University. A progressive thinker
and a visionary committed to the cause of education, she has
been instrumental in founding the Nirmal Bhartia School.
Ms. Charu Wahi - Principal
Ms. Vibha Bhasin - Vice Principal
Ms. Manjari Chaturvedi - Sufi Kathak Dancer
She trained initially in the Lucknow gharana of kathak under
the guidance of Arjun Mishra and has also studied abhinaya
under Kalanidhi Narayan at Protima Bedi’s Nrityagram. She
is particularly drawn to Sufi mysticism and has endeavoured
to incorporate movements in her performances that are reminiscent
of the meditative practices of the whirling dervishes.She
is known for creating a new art form of Indian classical dance
called Sufi Kathak.
Dr. Amrita Dass - Director - Institute for Career Studies
She is a leading Educationist and Career-Consultant of the
country. She is the Founder-Director of ICS-International
(Established in 1985) and has the distinction of pioneering
the career counselling and guidance services in the country.
Dr Dass has served as a Member of the Steering Committee on
Women and Child Development of the Planning Commission of
India. She is a recipient of the Lions Club Award for outstanding
Social Work and the Rotary Award for Vocational Excellence
and has recently been felicitated as a "Woman Achiever" by
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
Mr. Sanghvi was brought up in Mumbai and London and studied
at Mayo College, Ajmer, and Mill Hill School, London. His
journalistic career began with India Today. He was the founder
of 'Bombay', India's first city magazine making him the youngest
editor in the history of Indian journalism. Mr. Vir Sanghvi
is among India's leading print and TV journalists. Currently,
he is Editorial Director of the Hindustan Times.
Dr. Kavita Sharma - Director - India International Centre
Dr. Kavita Sharma took over as the Director of India International
Centre on the 1st of August 2008. She has been the Principal,
Hindu College for the past 10 years. She holds a doctorate
in English from Delhi University and has written and published
extensively with, about half a dozen single author books to
her credit. Her published research articles in reputed journals
cover a wide range of subjects such as Education, Literature,
Theatre and gender issues. Dr. Sharma has been awarded several
fellowships and awards.
U S Bhartia - Industrialist
Mr US Bhartia, the promoter and Chairman of the Bhartia Group,
is a renowned industrialist. He holds an Honours Bachelor's
degree in Commerce from the University of Kolkata and has
over 30 years of experience in managing large- scale industrial
companies. He has been associated with India Glycols Limited
for over 12 years as the Managing Director. He is renowned
in the chemical industry and has contributed immensely to
developing and introducing quality chemicals, he was conferred
the Udyog Ratna award in 2005.
Ms. Leena Aparajit - Advisor and Consultant - Aga Khan Foundation
Ms. Aparajit has the distinction of being the founding Head
of the Senior School of The Shri Ram School, Gurgaon, which
in a short span of a time acquired a formidable reputation,
as a leader in educational thought. Ms. Aparajit has also
worked as the Education Director of Scholars International
Group in Dubai. Her mandate was to begin from ground zero
and set up an A level British curriculum school in the UAE.
Her passion in life is education. She continues to work in
this area sharing the vast competencies that she has acquired
over the years.
Amita Birla - Director - C K Birla Group
Ms. Amita Birla along with her husband C.K.Birla founded Birlasoft
in the year 1993. It is now amongst the leading software development
companies in India providing services globally. Amita's personal
belief and commitment to the upliftment and empowerment of
children and women has seen her promote and provide support
to NGO's dealing with trauma care and rehabilitation. She
contributes time and resources helping these organizations
develop organizational and strategic skills.
Amita Baig - Director - World Monument Fund
Ms. Amita Baig is a Heritage Management Consultant presently
Consultant to the World Monuments Fund in India, the Namgyal
Institute for Research on Ladakhi Art and Culture, UNESCO,
the Taj Mahal Conservation, Collaborative and Founder Trustee
of the Jaisalmer Heritage Trust. She joined the Indian National
Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage at its inception in 1984
and was Director General of the Architectural Heritage Division
from 1993 to 1999.
