Annual Sports Meet 2015

“If you want to give up, remember why you started.”
Speed, Strength and Agility defined the 10th Annual Sports Meet of Nirmal Bhartia School held on 12th December at NSIT grounds. Though greeted with a cold, misty, wintry morning, both the participants and the spectators exhibited such fervor that the atmosphere was infused with an unmatched energy and warmth within no time!
The Meet got off to a thundering start with the March Past. Led by Sports Captain Arpit Hooda and the four House Captains and displaying perfect co-ordination and discipline, the marching contingents of the four houses – Ashoka, Banyan, Neem and Peepal- put up a spectacular show. Ashoka House bagged the honour of being declared the Best Marching Contingent.
The next one hour was totally engrossing with energetic field events. While Ankurs and Pallavs stole everyone’s heart with their nimble movements using colourful pompoms and flags respectively, the young athletes of Classes I demonstrated the way to fitness using dumbbells.
For class II the key to fitness was weight lifting whereas Class III preferred yoga asanas. In appreciation of the recently started swimming programme at NiBS, our young swimmers of Class IV, made beautiful wave formations using blue fabric as a prop and received hearty applause from the spectators.
Bringing vigour and vitality to the field, the students of Classes V and VI skipped to rhythm and performed Aerobics which was followed by the Pyramids Display by Classes VII and VIII.
Senior School students rendered an impressive display of Power Yoga, an invigorating exercising option that makes your body more flexible, increases strength and stamina. All these performances demonstrated perfect co-ordination, precision, balance and dexterity.
After the flamboyant drills, it was the time for the races under various categories. While for Junior School, it was all about collaboration, performing the task with utmost sincerity and completing the race, the students of Class V onwards sweated it out to outrun their competitors.
The bevy of track events included 100m, 200m races and 4×100m Baton Relay. As the students’ excited cheers rent the air, the athletes, with grit and determination raced to the finishing line to achieve victory and glory for their respective houses.
The NSIT grounds echoed with celebration cheer during the final tallying of the scores and the Prize Distribution Ceremony. Ashoka House proved their mettle and won the Sports Trophy for the year 2015.
Pooja Ma’am and Charu Ma’am congratulated all the participants for displaying great sportsman spirit and all gathered, dispersed with expectations of yet another exciting, closely-contested Sports Meet the following year.
