As an introduction the topic ‘Plants’ in Environmental Studies (EVS), the students were taken to a nearby Nursery in Dwarka , to observe the different kinds of plants propagated and grown there.
It was a huge Nursery with a wide variety of plants. The children were excited as most of them were visiting a Nursery for the first time.
The teachers explained the difference between a tree, shrub and a herb. Their individual features were also discussed with the students.
Further, climbers and creepers were shown and described to the students. The children collected different samples of leaves and later pasted them in their project books.
It was a great learning experience for the students. They were amazed to see the fruits like banana and guava growing on the trees. The children had too many queries about the size, the shape and the colour of the plants.
The teachers helped them in understanding the different types of plants by providing them with a real life experience. They also learnt to appreciate and value the bounties of Nature. It was a meaningful trip for the class three students.
