Music is in the air; the pitter-patter of the rain, the rhythmic swaying of the blooms, the rustling of the leaves in the soft breeze….No better season or time for a musical confluence; and that is exactly what we organized!
NiBS played host to schools across Delhi for our annual two day musical fiesta – Saath Sur, an Inter-School Performing Arts Competition especially designed for children to share the magic of their music and dance.
The Dance Competition, adjudged by Ms. Ruchi Gupta and Mr. Rajesh Kumar, had beautifully choreographed performances in all three events. While students of classes III and IV performed exquisite folk dances from the North Eastern part of our country, Dashavatar, a classical dance form depicting the ten incarnations (avatars) of the Hindu God Vishnu, had participants from classes V and VI. The Indo-Western Fusion by classes IX-XII was a breath-taking spectacle of great finesse and perfect synchronization. Sri Venkateshwar International School emerged winner in the Indo-western Fusion category whereas we, the host school, bagged the first position in both the Folk Dance and Dashavatar categories.
The Indian Music Competition too, had spectacularly melodious performances by all the participants, who were judged by an illustrious panel of judges comprising Ms.Meenakshi Devi and Pandit Sarnath Mishra. Students of classes III and IV of Venkateshwar International School won the Patriotic song category and our own students lifted the trophy in the Semi-Classical song category.
Harmony and Battle of Bands were the two exciting events in the Western Music Competition, which brought the audience to their feet with rocking performances and soul stirring melodies. The two judges, Mr. Roshan Roy and Mr. Siby Mathew lauded the sizzling energy of all the performers and also provided them with valuable tips to make a greater impact on their audiences. The choir of Sri Venkateshwar International School was declared the winner of Harmony and the rock band of Inderprastha International School won the Battle of Bands.
Music and joys bring all the more delight when we share them with others and Saath Sur at NiBS goes on to prove that perfectly!
