Understanding Material Heritage: INTACH Teachers Training Workshop

INTACH-Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage, Delhi Chapter, organized a workshop for the teachers to commemorate Heritage Day, on April 18. The workshop was organized to conserve the rich heritage of our city so that our students are able to appreciate our past.  The stress was to have a proactive heritage club in the where all the efforts are made to create heritage awareness amongst students. Special attention was also drawn towards a variety of material heritage in the city that included books, manuscripts, photographs, paintings textiles, artefacts etc. and why and how it is important for us to preserve them.  The workshop also included interaction with eminent personalities like Dr.Swapna Liddle, Co-Convenor, INTACH, Dr.Narayani Gupta, Former Director Documentation INTACH and Ms.Padma Rohilla, Conservation Institutes Centre Coordinator INTACH.   They briefed us about the means by which we can preserve our heritage and also encourage our children to do so. A teacher training certificate and handbook on Care for Heritage was presented to all the teachers.
